Getting married is one the biggest ladders we will ever climb in our lives. Making a solid commitment to one person for all of eternity, in a world where love and companionship just don't last. I truly honor and respect the covenant of marriage and am so thankful for the blessing that is Amber. She completes me and I could not think of a better person to grow old with. For the rest of my days, I will always ensure she is taken care of, and receives all the love she deserves. Family and friends will always be my rock....but Amber will always be my legacy.
With all that said, for the past year of my life I have been in 'Getting Married 101'. I had no idea so much planning and effort goes into preparing for one single day (heck, 20 minutes at that). So, with some good advice I took my place by her side and did my duties; "Yes dear, that sounds great.", "Yes baby, I like that one too", etc...
Sometimes while Amber wasn't looking I took it upon myself to do a few things as well. Always wanting to learn, I dove into creating slide shows for the rehearsal dinner and reception. I wanted to make sure that all those important to us know just how much we love and appreciate them. After lots of frustrating nights and time, I finally got the results I was looking for and I think they went off just fine.
The Wedding Day:
January 7th, 2006 was the single best day of my entire life. I stood, before my friends, family, and my Father in Heaven, took the hand of the most beautiful girl I've ever seen...and married her. I can't tell you how nervous I was standing at that alter waiting for her, but when I saw her in that dress, the world around me disappeared. I saw her and only her, all that we've been through and all I hope we can be, flashed through my head in a split second. The rest seemed like a blur as I tried to just keep from laughing. (Kinda like Chandler from Friends in that when I get nervous, sometimes I'll just laugh or say a dumb joke.)
Overall, it was a perfect day and I could not have asked for more. I am so very blessed and thank God for all He has given me.
Special Thanks: This day would not have happened if not for the huge commitments from some wonderful people. Julie: Our wedding reception was so perfect and we have you to thank for it. You were there from the beginning of our wedding planning ensuring every detail was covered and everything we wanted was included in our special day. Thank you, your friendship will be lifelong. "Oy" !!!!
Joseph & Travis: The bachelor party rocked, and it all happened because of your hard work. It was great to get the gang together again, even as our busy lives try to pull us farther apart. I'll never forget it. Thanks gents.
Todd: You are so talented in so many ways. Thanks for lending your great communication skills to be our reception 'DJ'. I can't tell you how many people complimented me on your ability to keep everyone laughing and the fun flowing. You rock dude, and hope I can learn all your Jedi skills one day. I forever owe you a beer, so just give me a nod when you need another cold one.
Karen: Thank you so much for taking such wonderful photos for our ceremony and reception. You are so good at capturing special events, and we are so glad you could be apart of ours!
